How your digital presence drives business in the marketplace. Advertising one’s business is a time tested way to increase customer interactions. Sure you can provide the basic terms of your services and their pricing on your own website. But making the most of today’s social media goes beyond the principles of notary work and connects your business to your clients on a deeper level. Digital advertising and connection platforms can combine not only the marketing aspect to grow a notary business, but also create an authentic (although virtual) storefront complete with the notary’s professional image, curated logos, menu of specific fees for services and more. The interaction tools available with social media are almost limitless and one can devote hours and hours to creating content. But careful management of your overall digital presence can show your customers why you are their best choice in notarial services.     Making the most of free advertising. Using multiple social media platforms to market your notarial business is a great bang for your buck. Once you have established your own “brand” for what you want your business to look like, hosting your business accounts on sites such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Google and Instagram (just to name a few) is easy and free to establish. Whether you opt to splurge for a professionally created logo or use a more economic approach of just a themed color scheme with free graphics, your brand’s image across the various platforms will show clients that you are open for business and looking to connect to further build your credibility. Posting professional content related to the various types of businesses you interact with adds even more value to your business by showing how your notary services are really instrumental to your customers’ success. Be sure to leave plenty of links back to your own business website for up to date details on your notary services. All posts should remain positive, respectful and relevant to the target audience. Remember that everything you are creating and posting is a reflection of how your business is perceived by customers. Personal messages and frequent  (but not aggressive) activity will help your brand’s “socials” stay in front of your customers but not overwhelm them with constant promotions and sales tactics.
A way to network and refer.  Depending on the location of your notary business, you could have a lot of local competition or you could be the only notary in town. Connecting and networking with other notaries can still be a boon for your business because you now have a connection outside your area for business referrals when you might be too busy or a signing is too far from your service area.. Ideally you want to strive for a large number of connections but take the time to check in on each and every connection to make sure there is a quality behind that association. By offering tips and advice to your connections and followers, your notarial expertise will shine. Engage with others in similar business and affiliate associations using their social platforms discussion pages . Take the time to build a comprehensive network of clients and colleagues that can help boost your business. If you are a notary signing agent, you can also connect and follow all of the various signing services that you work for. I personally have had direct calls from a signing service I am following on social media  when they know I am local to a particular singing, rather than accept the group text and hope that I get the job. Don’t forget those notary education and supplies companies that helped you get started in the notary business in the first place. Especially here in California where continuing notary education is a requirement for commission renewal, connections with those various education companies can lead to discounts on future courses. You never know how many deals you can unlock  by having that digital connection.
