Filing Fees

  • $71.00 total baseline fee (assuming a standard 1-page bond) ($50.00 County Clerk notary public oath filing fee + a $7.00 Bond processing/cancellation handling fee + a $14.00 Recorder fee for the first page of the physical bond).
  • $3.00 per page for each additional page of the bond after the first page.

Appointment Requirements

Mail Filing Option

Sonoma County also offers mail filing. The applicant must first take their oath of office forms to an active Notary Public physically working within Sonoma County to execute the sworn block.

Send a copy of the Secretary of State commission certificate, two completed copies of the Oath of Office (originally signed by the applicant and fully executed by the local administering notary), the original signed $15,000 surety bond, a cover letter with the student’s daytime phone number and return tracking information, a check or money order for the exact amount ($71.00 baseline), and a self-addressed stamped envelope.
