  • Arrive early for your appointment
  • Double-check your bond for accuracy before filing

Mail Filing Option

Lake County also offers mail filing. The applicant must take their oath of office before an active Notary Public within Lake County first. Send a copy of the Secretary of State commission certificate, the original $15,000 surety bond (signed by the applicant), two completed copies of the Oath of Office (executed by the administering notary), along with the payment ($28.00 check to Lake County Clerk and $14.00 check to Lake County Recorder) to: Lake County Clerk, 255 N. Forbes Street, Lakeport, CA 95453. For walk-ins, the student must bring their physical commission certificate, two blank copies of the Oath form issued to them by the Secretary of State (the clerk will fill these out at the counter), their signed $15,000 bond, and a valid government photo ID.

Always confirm current options with the county before mailing documents by calling them at Phone: (707) 263-2311.
